CWiT companies excited to host STEM Teacher Interns this summer

This summer 70 pre-service and early career STEM teachers will work as interns in 43 host companies across a range of industries in Ireland. They will work full time for up to 12 weeks on paid internships, gaining valuable knowledge of STEM careers today. The teachers get hands-on experience of a wide range of careers and opportunities available within STEM industries. We know that teachers are key influencers of students’ subject choices, second only to parents. The STInt programme aims to give our teachers hands-on experience in STEM careers to empower them to inspire future generations of their own students to build STEM skills and pursue STEM careers.

CWiT is a proud partner of the STInt Programme, which was developed by DCU in 2016 alongside Accenture and the 30% Club and is currently funded by Skillnet, SFI and Intel.

The programme is open to pre-service and early careers teachers from the partnering universities around Ireland – Dublin City University, University College Dublin, Maynooth University, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, University of Limerick and University of Galway.

This year’s host companies which include a large cohort of CWiT members are: Abbvie, Accenture, ADAPT, AIB, Alexion, AMD Xilinx, APC, Astellas, Bank of Ireland, BioMarin, Boston Scientific, BT Ireland, Citi, Cúram, Cyber Skills, Davy, Deloitte, DIAS Dunsink Observatory, EirGrid, Ericsson, ESB, EY, Fidelity Investments, IBM, Intel, IPSEN, Irish Water, Jabil, Janssen Sciences, Johnson & Johnson, Medtronic, Microsoft, MSD, Pm Group, PwC, Simply Blue Group, SSE Airtricity, Stryker, Vistamilk, VLE Therapeutics, Vodafone and Workday.

If your company is interested in hosting a STEM teacher intern in 2024, register your interest at https://stemteacherinternships.ie/host_registration/ and a member of the team will be in touch.
