Name: Daisy Muyldermans

Company: New Relic

Position: Solutions Engineer

Tell me about you and your role?
My name is Daisy. I’m originally from Belgium and decided to move to Ireland years ago to pursue my dream of studying abroad. I have a masters degree in Interactive Digital Media from the School of Computer Science in Trinity College Dublin. I’m passionate about talking and learning more about software, women in tech, or hearing from anyone that is doing something kind to make this world a better place, especially if this is done through software.

Right now I’m working as a solutions engineer at New Relic. What this means is that I am a technical lead for New Relic customers and prospects. I help identify the customer’s needs by holding discovery calls and generate tailored solutions for customers and prospects and present them via demos, workshops or presentations.

Tell me about your career path so far?
Right after I finished my Masters degree I got an offer to work as a solutions engineer at New Relic. After finishing my technical onboarding I started with hosting webinars about enhancing frontend or backend performance. I participated in discovery calls and presented demos to customers. At the beginning I helped out various sales representatives across various countries, now I am covering a smaller region and am now mainly covering the Belgium, Netherlands and Nordics region.

I am still in the early stage of my career and there is still lots of opportunity to learn and grow which is very exciting!

What do you like about working in tech?
Time never stands still in tech. There is always something new to learn and to discover. I love that learning never stops, there’s always something new you need to pick up on. Tech companies grow fast and as a result so do you, I like that there is always room for growth, not only professionally but personally as you get to grow your skill set you also get to discover yourself and what you like and don’t like.

Share 1 insight for someone looking to enter the tech industry?
Always be yourself. The ‘tech stereotype’ doesn’t exist. That is one thing I learned while working in tech, there’s no box you need to fit in. Anyone can enter tech as long as you have a good skill set, enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn.
