Mentorship for Career Development for 3rd Level Students
March 23, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Connecting Women in Technology (CWIT) is a network of Irish based technology companies who all share a common goal to support the development of women in the technology industry. Founded by Accenture, Dell and Microsoft in 2011, the network today spans over 20 leading multinational technology companies, who all collaborate to attract, promote and encourage women in STEM careers.
The Tech Starter series began 3 years ago and is delivered students in third level institutions. The series consists of several monthly events from panel discussions on careers in STEM, to CV and interview workshops. At these events, students can expect to learn about what it’s like to work for a technology company and making the transition from third level to the workplace. The aim of Tech Starter is to reduce the numbers of female dropouts from STEM degrees and increase the number of students who enter STEM/technology roles after graduation.
On Wednesday 22nd March, Vodafone Ireland will host the next Tech Starter event. This is a hybrid event. Virtual attendees will be invited to a panel discussion on ‘The Importance of Mentorship’. The discussion will feature a panel consisting of Mairead Cullen (IT Director, Vodafone Ireland), Grace Tyrell (Intern, Vodafone Ireland), Mo Soliman (Senior Software Engineer, Microsoft), Eilish Nolan Anderson (Technical Delivery Manager, BT Ireland), Andrew Corcoran (Head of Regulation, Vodafone Ireland) and Erinda Mali (Commercial Segment Manager, Vodafone Ireland). Third level students who attend in person* will be given a light lunch and tour of the Vodafone Ireland headquarters in Mountainview, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, learn about the different pathways into tech, as well as attending the panel discussion and getting the opportunity to network with Vodafone Ireland and CWIT member company employees, from graduates and interns, to directors.
*In-person invites are limited and on a first come first served basis. If you would like to attend in person, please complete this form: https://forms.office.com/e/mcsVwEMDvW
