The Women in STEM Awards held on the 24th of October was a night to remember, celebrating the incredible achievements and innovations of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in Ireland. The event, hosted at The Round Room at Mansion House in Dublin, brought together some of the brightest minds and most influential companies in the industry.
This year, Mastercard, Dell, PWC, Workday, and IBM were among the companies with nominations, showcasing the diverse and talented pool of women making strides in STEM fields. The nominations and runners-up were truly fantastic, reflecting the high calibre of talent and dedication present across our CWiT Network and beyond.
The big winner of the evening was the team at Workday, who took home the prestigious Employer of the Year award. Their commitment to creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace has set a benchmark for others to follow.
CWiT was delighted to present the Women in Mathematics award, highlighting the exceptional contributions of women in this critical field. It is inspiring to see so many talented women being recognised for their contributions to mathematics. This award is a celebration of their hard work and dedication.
Keynote speakers at the event emphasised the importance of diversity, inclusion, and mentorship in STEM fields. They highlighted the need for different identities and skills in the industry, the importance of resilience and empathy, and the ethical responsibility of STEM professionals to support and mentor the next generation. The event saw participation from over 200 attendees, including representatives from leading companies and organizations. The awards ceremony featured 17 categories, including Science, Technology, Health Technology, Engineering, Energy, Maths, and more.
The Women in STEM Awards not only celebrated the achievements of these remarkable women but also aimed to inspire the next generation of female innovators and leaders. By shining a light on their accomplishments, the event encouraged young girls and women to pursue careers in STEM, overcome obstacles, and make a difference in their fields.
