Tell me about you and your role?

Hello, world! I am Raisa Babu. My passions are software, feminism and public speaking. I am a Senior Solutions Consultant at New Relic. A Solutions Consultant essentially works as part of a Sales team, identifying customer pains and creating customized and impactful technical solutions for them, all while closing the sales deal. As an SC in New Relic, I work with some of the biggest logos in Nordics Enterprise making sure their technology works and it works best on their biggest day. It’s a fast paced and  competitive role where you constantly reinvent yourself.

Tell me about your career path so far?

I started off as a Software Engineer working in the FinServ industry. It was during this time that I realized I enjoyed public speaking and consulting with clients. This led me to search for my dream role where I could apply my newfound strength and I found Solutions Consulting and New Relic. I joined New Relic as an Associate Solutions Engineer and learned from some very talented and supportive mentors.

What do you like about working in tech?

You can be autonomous and creative in tech. Most tech roles work as part of a team. Contributing towards a common goal and coming up with an innovative solution is deeply rewarding. The people you meet on the way, the skills you develop and the places you visit are added bonuses.

Tech is the industry to be right now. There are so many exciting roles that ask for a multitude of skills( not just an Engineering degree/ CS experience), so to anyone who is reading this I implore you to look at several Job descriptions. From the outside, it can look a lot like a male-dominated industry, but you will also see a lot of women killing it and making their mark. Curiosity, logical thinking and a growth mindset is all you need to succeed in the tech industry, other labels don’t matter.
