Name: Febisola Olanipekun
Company: Deloittee
Position: Assistant Manager, Cyber Risk Advisory
Tell me about you and your role?
My name is Febisola Olanipekun. At Deloitte Ireland, I am an Assistant Manager in the Cyber Risk Advisory team. Outside Deloitte, I enjoy talking to people who are trying to find their feet in a new career or changing careers, enjoy volunteering for causes of interest, playing scrabble and some fitness activities (hiking, running).
Tell me about your career path so far?
I come from a non-technical background (Economics). After graduation, I worked as a payroll analyst as well as having worked in data analysis in the past. I got an opportunity to attend a 2-day bootcamp by SheSecures and that changed my mindset forever. I became more curious and started taking courses online from Cybrary, edx and Udemy. The learnings from these and referrals from my network got me an internship in Digital Security. I grew from there into a Security Analyst role at a Security Operations Centre (SOC). Since then, my career has evolved from Cybersecurity Operations into Cyber Risk Management, managing compliance for clients in various industries across the world using regulatory standards and frameworks. The journey so far has been such a ride, learning new concepts and technologies, and I really do enjoy it.
What do you like about working in tech?
Hard to choose, but one thing that stands out for me is that when you put in the work, you get results. Also, I get to work with a lot of smart people who are innovating and making lives easier with technology.
